Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
1. Who we are (data controller)
This policy explains how SalesTap ("we", "us", or "our") handles personal data when you use salestap.com — an independent, AI-curated B2B sales publication offering free articles and tools. SalesTap is the data controller responsible for your personal data and is based in the United Kingdom.
For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@salestap.com. We are regulated by the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
2. The personal data we collect
- Usage & device data — pages visited, time on site, referring pages, approximate location, browser and device type, and your IP address. Cookie-based collection via Google Analytics 4 happens only if you consent to analytics cookies. We run GA4 in Google Consent Mode: before you consent it sets no cookies and stores no identifiers, but it may send Google cookieless, non-identifying signals used only for aggregate measurement. No analytics cookies or identifiers are set until you opt in.
- Tool inputs — the text you type into our AI tools (for example a company name, role, or pain point). This is sent to our server and to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. We do not store these inputs on our own systems after your request completes (see Retention for Anthropic's handling).
- Newsletter email — if you subscribe, we collect your email address (and the fact and time of your subscription) to send you our newsletter.
- Anti-abuse data — to rate-limit our tools and signup form we process a short-lived counter derived from your IP address.
- Consent & advertising data — your cookie choices, and, if you consent to advertising, data used by Google AdSense to serve and measure ads.
3. Why we process it, and our lawful bases
Under the UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for analytics cookies, advertising cookies, and sending you the newsletter. You can withdraw consent at any time (via the cookie banner, the unsubscribe link, or by emailing us).
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to deliver the AI tool you actively requested, to keep the site secure, and to prevent abuse (rate limiting). We balance these against your rights.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where we must process data to comply with the law (for example, responding to a valid legal request).
4. Cookies & consent
Strictly-necessary cookies run the site and need no consent. Analytics (Google Analytics) and advertising (Google AdSense) cookies are set only after you opt in — they are off by default. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer. For the full list and durations, see our Cookie Policy. You can also manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
5. Service providers we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the providers below, who process it on our behalf or as independent controllers for the purposes shown:
- Vercel — website hosting and delivery. Privacy policy.
- Google (Analytics 4 & AdSense) — analytics and advertising, subject to your consent. Privacy · Ads.
- Anthropic — the Claude API that powers our AI tools; receives your tool inputs. Privacy policy.
- Resend — newsletter email delivery; receives your email address. Privacy policy.
- Upstash — transient rate-limiting store for our tools and signup form. Privacy policy.
6. International transfers
Some of these providers process data outside the UK and EEA (for example, in the United States). Where that happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards — typically the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, and/or the provider's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension. You can request more detail about a specific provider's safeguards by emailing us.
7. How long we keep data
- Tool inputs — not retained on our own systems after your request completes. Anthropic may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for trust-and-safety purposes (longer only where required by law), per its policies.
- Analytics data — retained according to our Google Analytics configuration, by default up to 14 months.
- Newsletter email — kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Rate-limit counters — automatically expire, typically within 24 hours.
- Consent record — stored in your browser until you change it or it is cleared.
8. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Have your data erased
- Restrict or object to our processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing
To exercise any of these, email privacy@salestap.com. We aim to respond within one month.
9. Complaints
If you have a concern we have not resolved, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to address it first.
10. Children
SalesTap is intended for business professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest revision; material changes will be reflected here. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
